With many people asking, “How can this year possibly get worse?” We would just like to remind everyone that we are in an election year. Not only are we in an election year, but we are in the middle of a pandemic. A pandemic in which the disease itself likely will not have a vaccine before the actual election. On top of that, the USPS will run out of funding before the election; and we have a president who is ADAMANT about not providing more funding to the USPS before then.
You don’t need to be a psychic to see that not only will it be incredibly difficult for us to vote in November, it is going to be absolute chaos. THAT is how this year is going to get worse. Lots of polling places will be closed due to people not wanting to work during the pandemic (polling stations are usually run by people who are older, and they are at the most risk), and it’s very likely that we will not know who our next president is until days after Election Day.
Now, more than ever — it is important that we exercise our right to vote. And there are ways we can do it in advance to lighten the load on the shit-show that is about to fall upon us. There are two things I want to encourage all of you to do:
1. Make sure you are registered to vote. It is seriously so easy, most of us can do it online. Don’t sit on registering. There is a deadline you need to register by in order to vote in the upcoming election.
Go to www.vote.org and register to vote. It takes only 2 minutes of your time.
2. See if you can vote in advance to lighten the load on Election Day. Request an absentee ballot, vote by mail. Get it done before the chaos goes down if you can.
2020 has been a challenging year to say the least. It seems like every month we are given a new battle to fight. This is a a battle that we can see from afar — and we can start preparing for it now.
